Walking in Dolpo
Dolpo is the most remote trekking region in Nepal — a trans-Himalayan landscape of deep gorges, high passes and the turquoise lake of Shey Phoksundo, set behind the main range where Tibetan Buddhism and the older Bon religion endure. This is the country of Peter Matthiessen's The Snow Leopard, and it still feels that far from the world.
Treks here are long, high and often camping-based, crossing passes above 5,000 m between scattered villages that live by the old salt-caravan rhythm. We are adding guided Dolpo itineraries — for now, ask us about a tailor-made expedition into Upper or Lower Dolpo.
