Walking in Makalu
The Makalu region protects one of Nepal's last great wildernesses — the Barun valley, a steep ribbon of cloud forest and glacier inside the Makalu-Barun National Park that climbs from subtropical jungle to the foot of the 8,481 m Makalu in a single valley. The biodiversity is extraordinary and the trail traffic almost nil.
Reaching Makalu Base Camp means a committing trek over forested ridges and high passes, usually with camping support. Guided Makalu departures are on the way; for now we arrange this as a tailor-made expedition for experienced trekkers.
